2.                     ADAM SOPER

Performance: Black Bile: Melancholy, Hauntings, and Hope for Change

In 'Black Bile', Soper investigates mutant hauntologies latent in the radiophonic possibilities of (re)tuned electric guitar combined with audio recording and playback technologies (such as loopers, micro-loopers and tape machine emulators). This works seeks to tease out freshness from repetition and uncover possibility lurking within banshee-screams of electric guitar feedback.

Adam Soper (he/they) is a ‘weird music’ practitioner whose work occupies itself with themes of the occult, the paranormal, the psychical or otherwise spectral and otherworldly, treating these topics both literally and metaphorically. His/their work explores these themes through an improvised or improvised-informed practice utilising electric and acoustic guitars, radio receivers, environmental recordings, DIY audio technology, modular synthesis, and in some rare instances notation-based composition. Soper releases recorded work every c.15 days on their Bandcamp page, which can be found at https://adamsoper.bandcamp.com
